Karachi: Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor here Thursday said Karachi has been facing immense civic problems, and this factor has increased the very importance of local government elections, as only patriotic and committed councillors would save this city from this deadly quagmire of problems.
Addressing a meeting of Pasban candidates and office-bearers in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, he said Karachi needs brave, committed and able leadership at grassroots level to change the fate of this mega city. He said the hapless citizens of Karachi are waiting for this leadership and Pasban candidates are committed to serve the masses of the city. He said we have fielded our best leadership for local government polls in all districts of Karachi. He said our candidates have already filed nominations from all districts of the city. He appealed to the voters to make these candidates successful in the upcoming local government elections to that they could safeguard the interests of masses.
Altaf Shakoor said Pasban would also support likeminded candidates in the city. He said our doors are always open for the patriotic and Karachi-friendly parties and individuals.
On the occasion Abdul Hakim Quaid, Tariq Chandiwalla, Sheikh Mohammad Shakeel, Sardar Zulfiqar, Syed Javed Malik, Akram Agaria, Ali Sher, Abid Baloch, Amir Hussain, Akhtar Shah, Siddique Baloch, Allauddin, Mama Abbas, Mohammad Murtaza, Hamid Awan, Umaid Ali Qazi, Mufti Saeedullah Bukhari, Sadiq, Haji Iqbal and others also spoke.
Pasban President said different mafias had held hostage Karachi and Karachiites. Terrorists and extortionists ruined this city and its citizens were also befooled in the name of their rights. He said the citizens of Karachi were and still are deprived of due respect, jobs, education, healthcare, electricity, gas, water and other basic necessities of life. He said not only the slums but posh localities of the city are also deprived of these basic facilities. He said Pasban has presented the best candidates to the voters of Karachi in all districts and they would duly serve the city. He said in the constituencies where Pasban has not yet fielded its candidates, it would support honest and committed candidates of other parties.
