Peshawar: The forces are well prepared and aware of Pakhtun customs and traditions and will act as guardians of the properties and honour of the local tribesmen, however, those who try to challenge writ of the government, will be dealt with as per law and with iron hand.
He stressed upon the tribal elders to come forward and assist the forces to contain the malpractices of the militants. These views were expressed by the Commandant Frontier Corp (FC), Col Mansoor Janjua while addressing a Grand Tribal Jirga held here in Khyber Rifle Jirga hall on Wednesday.
Besides Assistant Political Agent (APA), Landi Kotal, large numbers of tribal elites from all three tribes, Afridi, Shinwari and Shelmani participated in it.
Speaking on the occasion Commandant FC Col Mansoor said, handful militants will not be let disturb the peaceful environment of Landi Kotal, however he felt regretful on the role of the tribal elders and said their position was not encouraging to curb the militants’ activities.
He asked the local tribals to deposit all heavy weapons with administration or forces within a week in the best interests of the area. Those found extending any kind of assistance to militants, will be considered their colleagues and will be punished accordingly, Col Mansoor observed.
He further said the forces have no enmity with anyone although restoration of peace is their sacred duty for which they are rendering priceless sacrifices; therefore he called upon the tribals to join hands with forces to root out the curse from the area.
“Have close watch on your youth and persuade them to get education rather than to be involved in militancy, he suggested.”
Col Mansoor asked the tribal elders to play their due role in decreasing militants’ acts and propose them to convince the local displaced militants through Jirga to surrender or avoid entering Landi Kotal for their evil designs.
The tribal elites including Malik Abdur Raziq Afridi, Malik Hukam Jan and Malik Wakeel Shelmani on behalf of tribal Jirga assured the forces of their unconditional support.
It is worth mentioning here that the law and order situation is getting worse in Landikotal as other parts of Fata.
