KARACHI: Provincial minister for health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Thursday said that Sindh health department has taken concrete steps to curb spread of dengue fever and a comprehensive plan is chalked out to launch spray against dengue at certain areas specially in educational institutions and hospitals, adding a mass awareness campaign will also be launched.
This he said in a meeting held to review dengue situation in the city. Manager Dengue Prevention and Control program Sindh Dr Masood Solangi was also present.
Solangi informed the minister that during last week 30 new cases of dengue were reported, out of them 28 were from Karachi while one each was from Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad.
He said that so far 200 patients of dengue virus have been reported and treated in different public and private hospitals.
Health minister directed the program manager to coordinate with other stakeholders and make the drive a success.
Dr Solangi briefed the minister about his performance and problems in detail.
Jam Mehtab assured him that his genuine issues would be resolved soon.
