ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a follow-up meeting on the implementation of the National Action Plan for countering terrorism and extremism at the PM’s House here on Saturday.
Federal Minister for Finance, Ishaq Dar; Federal Minister for Planning, Ahsan Iqbal, Special Assistants to PM, Irfan Siddique, Khawaja Zaheer Ahmedm Barrister Zafarullah Khan and Attorney General Salman Butt along with other senior officers attended the meeting.
The Prime Minister said that government has made an iron resolve to deal with miscreant elements with a heavy hand. He said the government is committed to take all necessary steps to ensure that blood spilled in Peshawar carnage does not go waste.
He emphasized on seamless coordination between law enforcement agencies as well as among the provincial governments and the federal governmet to achieve optimum results within a short period of time.
On the directions of the Prime Ministerm NACTA would be made functional. Its executive meeting has been called on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan.
First draft of constitutional and legal amendments for trying enemy combatants and hardcore terrorists involved in execution, abetting and financing of mass murders was presented to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said that the government will give legal protection to the valiant jawans of armed forces in their fight against terrorism. He asked his legal team to share the draft with other political parties and take their input as well.
He directed that instances of terrorism or sectarian violence against minorities should also be included in the schedule of offences against the terrorists. He said we want to make Pakistan a safer place for every Pakistani regardless of his faith or ethnicity.
