ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the Attorney General to file a petition in Supreme Court against the suspension of certain provisions that facilitate farmers in the Kisan package after the Election Commission’s decision.
Chairing a meeting on the issues faced by the agricultural sector and facilitation to farmers, the prime minister said that the Kisan package was for the farmers of entire nation and was not specific to any region.
He said that the farmer community was suffering due to non-implementation of Kisan package. He said that it was the right of all farmers across the board. He said the government was working to protect farmers’ rights without any political or regional bias.
He also in-principle approved the establishment of Agricultural Research Endowment Fund for enhancing research on agriculture to maximize produce of crops.
