ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the government will take all the necessary steps to bring an end to all kinds of discrimination against women.
He was addressing a function in connection with the screening of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s documentary “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness” here at the Prime Minister Office on Monday.
He said men and women enjoy equal rights in Islam and the government has laid special focus on the protection of women rights and empowering them in the Vision 2015.
The Prime Minister said civil society, religious scholars, and media condemned crimes against women in the name of honour. He said killing in the name of honour is wrong and relevant legislation will be done to check inhumane practice.
