ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has said that overcoming energy crisis and elimination of terrorism are the foremost priorties of the present government.
Addressing a ceremony of K-2 project of Karachi Nuclear Power Project (KANUPP) in Karachi on Thursday, he said the electricity supply situation has improved a lot as a result of steps taken by the government.
He said cooperation in the establishment of K-2 and K-3 nuclear power projects reflect strong bonds between Pakistan and China. Appreciating the Chinese cooperation in the nuclear power sector, he reminded that it was in his first era that Pakistan signed Chashma unit one nuclear power plant agreement.
Currently two nuclear power plants at Chashma are providing six hundred megawatt of cheap electricity to the country. He said Chashma three and four are also being established with the Chinese cooperation which will start producing six hundred and thirty megawatt of electricity by next year.
He appreciated the steps being taken by Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission for the safety of existing and under construction nuclear power plants. Referring to the menace of terrorism, the Prime Minister said that the terrorists are resorting to cowardly acts in reaction to Zarb-e-Azb operation.
He said the Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada and MNA Rashid Godil were targeted in terrorist act. He said such acts cannot deter our resolve in the war on terror. He said the authorities concerned will continue their offensive till restoration of complete law and order situation. He said no hurdle in the campaign against terrorism will be tolerated.
Nawaz Sharif said the country’s economic situation has improved significantly as a result of decisive against the terrorists. He said the investors’ confidence have also enhanced on Pakistan’s economy as a result of transparent policies.
