PMA, PDA delegation meets with PMDC over rise in tuition fees
KARACHI: The senior representatives of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) held a meeting with the councilors of PMDC from Sindh at PMA House Karachi on Monday.
Ex-President PMA Centre, Prof Tipu Sultan, Secretary General PMA Centre, Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, Ex-Council Member PMDC, Dr Shershah Syed, President PDA, Dr Aqeel Shaikh, Treasurer PDA, Dr Mohammad Ahmed Bari, Council Member PMDC Dr Jamal Shaikh and Council Member PMDC Dr Feroze were present at the meeting.
The representatives of PMA and PDA expressed their strong reservations on the recent decisions taken by PMDC, at a meeting, in the presence of Ms. Saira Afzal Tarar, Federal Minister for National Health Services Regulation and Coordination, which only empower and benefit the private medical colleges.
The following decisions of PMDC are not acceptable by PMA and PDA:
increase of tuition fee from Rs 642,000 to Rs 800,000 per annum, increase of 7 tuition fee per annum, and post-dated cheque as fee guaranty for five years MBBS and four years BDS programs, while prospectus fee should be Rs 3000.
The PMA and PDA believed that the prospectus should not be sold but it should be uploaded on the website of the individual medical & dental Institution. The list of faculty members of every medical & dental college should also be uploaded on its website.
The PMA reiterated that PMDC should be made autonomous, independent, transparent and strong body.[related_post themes="text" id="321665"]
