ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi has expressed the hope that Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming US visit will further strengthen bilateral ties.
In an interview on Sunday, he said trade, economy, investment and energy would be on the agenda of the talks with US officials. He said besides promoting bilateral ties Pakistan will also seek access to the US markets and urge the American firms to invest in Pakistan.
He said Pakistan is an ideal country for foreign investment with positive trends in national economy. He said Pakistan’s role is being recognized as vital for its efforts to establish peace and stability in the region. Under the Prime Minister Sharif’s guidelines, Pakistan is toeing a dynamic foreign policy.
He said Pakistan always desired peaceful neighbourhood. He said immediate withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan would have negative impact until the Afghan forces are trained enough to handle the situation independently.
