ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) parliamentary leader Sahibzada Tariq Ullah on Thursday hailed the government efforts to evolve consensus on the strategy to combat terrorism.
He said his party had favoured decision made at All Parties Conference (APC) for establishing special courts in Pakistan so that those involved in terrorist activities could be punished.
He said JI would support every step within the constitution because it wanted to save Pakistan from the nefarious designs of terrorist elements and root out this menace forever.
About registration of seminaries, he said this practice was conducted earlier but sincere efforts were needed to properly manage it. He said seminaries involved in militant activities should be isolated and action should be taken against those involved in disrupting peace.
About decision to strengthen National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), he said discussions were made in the National Assembly in the past about making this institution functional but no concrete steps were taken on the pretext of lack of budget. He suggested allocating one year budget as a whole for maintaining peace in the country.
