ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has directed for expediting relief activities in the earthquake affected areas. He issued this directive at a briefing in Khaar, the Headquarters of Bajaur Agency on Thursday.
On the occasion, he was told that 22 people were killed and 159 others injured in Bajaur Agency due to the earthquake. Moreover, 8120 houses, 32 schools and 12 hospitals were also damaged by the quake.
The President was apprised that 8064 tents, 900 blankets and food items have so far been distributed among the affected families. Rs 60, 000 have been paid to the legal heirs of those killed and 10, 000 to the injured as initial assistance.
The President also visited Agency Headquarters Hospital Khaar and inquired about the health of the people injured in the calamity. Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan accompanied him during the visit.
