Peshawar:Principal Edwards College, Peshawar Prof. Dr. Nayer Firdous called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan here at the Governor’s House, on Tuesday. He remained with the governor for some time and discussed matters regarding the progress of the college.
The principal of the college told the governor that on his directives 132 students from FATA have given admissions in Edwards College in the current year and the college has also waived off the tuition fee of 35 students of Chitral due to the recent widespread flash floods in Chitral.
The governor was also told that the college has waived off the overall Rs.5 million tuition fee of the students in this year. Governor educational endowment fund of worth Rs.2 million has been given to Edwards College to help and sponsor the needy students.
While appreciating the efforts of the principal and his team the governor said the provision of modern education facilities is among the top most priorities of our government for the uplift of the education sector in this marginalized region.
He directed that further steps should be taken to provide all possible modern education facilities to the tribal students. He said that tribal students are more competent and brilliant will also be provided best education facilities.
He said that in order to keep the educated youth of the society connected with world we are committed to ensure the provision of best possible modern education facilities to the FATA students.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had directed all the public sector universities and colleges of the province to waive off the tuition fee for one academic year of the students belonging to Chitral district.
