KARACHI: Senior orthopedic surgeon of Pakistan and writer of various books, Professor Mohammad Amin Chinoy, was elected as president Pakistan Orthopedic Association (POA).
Recently in the annual general body meeting of Pakistan Orthopedic Association, the members elected Chinoy as the president of the organization.
The elections were held during the 28th Pakistan International “Orthocon”, held from 18th to 20th December in Karachi, which was attended by more than 700 Orthopedic surgeons from all over the country, as well as delegates from 27 countries.
Chinoy is the author of several Indexed publication, and a keen researcher. Under his guidance, the largest dedicated clubfoot program in the country is being run at The Indus Hospital, known as “Pehla Qadam”. This program has been acclaimed internationally, and a University of Iowa/USAID grant was approved recently, through which more than 40 Orthopaedic surgeons were trained and 23 such centres were established in the country. He is currently designated as the “Ponseti Champion” in the country.
