Quake: (11 dead, over 100 injured in earthquake)


ISLAMABAD: In Peshawar, emergency has been declared in all major hospitals. Rescue 1122, Edhi, Al-Khidmat and other organizations are bringing injured to the hospitals.

Over one hundred injured people have so far been brought to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. Eleven persons have died and scores others injured in Bajaur Agency, Swat, Charsadda and Swabi in houses collapse incidents due to earthquake.

In Bajaur Agency, four persons died and over thirty injured. The injured have been shifted Agency Headquarters Hospital Khar where emergency has been declared. Four persons died in Kalam and Kabal areas of Swat. Two persons died in Charsadda while one in Swabi.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed Provincial Disaster Management Authority to provide all possible relief to the affected people. Meanwhile, Army troops have been directed to carry out immediate rescue work in any affected areas.

According to ISPR, they have been asked not to wait for formal orders in this regard. In a snap conference, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif directed Army teams for quick assessment of earthquake damages across country especially remote areas.

Army teams have left for different areas to participate in rescue and relief efforts. Army troops have been mobilized and all CMHs put on high alert. Specialized earthquake rescue machinery has been put on alert. Army helicopters have also been mobilized to meet any eventuality.
