ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed heartfelt condolence and grief over loss of life and property in the earthquake.
The President has given directions for provision of all possible medical facilities to the injured especially those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He directed relevant institutions to take immediate measures for rescue and relief.
The President has also asked them to carry out damage assessment in the far-flung areas of the country. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Governor KP and directed him to mobilize tribal administration immediately for relief, rescue and damage assessment.
On the directions of the Prime Minister, a crisis cell has been established at the Prime Minister’s House to coordinate with all federal, civil, military and provincial agencies for damage assessment, rescue, relief and recovery. The cell will work round the clock.
The Prime Minister has directed Governor, Gilgit-Baltistan to immediately reach Gilgit to take charge of the rescue and relief efforts.
