Research on modern lines stressed


KHAIRPUR: The 55th meeting of Advance Studies and Research Board (ASRB) was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Wednesday which was presided over by Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Parveen said research on modern lines may be given importance to meet the future challenges of community and nation. She stressed that research on energy crisis, food security, raising of standard of education, role of information technology in education may be given priority.

Dr. Shah said, despite financial crisis, we are committed to provide better research facilities to our scholars and research projects may be prepared and same may be submitted to HEC and other donors for getting appropriate funds.

After detailed deliberations, various decisions were made. The period of various research scholars was extended.

The Department of Public Administration was allowed to start the PhD program.

The synopsis of MS/M. Phil and PhD programs of various scholars were approved.

The ASRB appointed various research supervisor/co-supervisor in various fields for MS/M. Phil programs, including Dr. Ahsan-ul-Haque Pathan and Dr Bashir Ahmed Chandio, Govt. Degree College, Larkana were appointed in the field of Sindhi, Dr. Mohammad Hussain Soomro, Associate Professor, Govt. Superior Science College, Khairpur was appointed as research supervisor in the field of Botany, Dr. Khurshid Ahmed Abbasi, Chairman, Department of Paediatrics, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana was appointed as research supervisor in the field of Microbiology, Dr. Sajid Hussain Sandilo, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology, Nawabshah was appointed in the field of Mathematics, Dr. Shafqat Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, University of Sargodha and Dr. Irshad Hussain, Director, Institute of Distance Education & Chairman, Department of Educational training, Islamia University, Bahawalpur were appointed as research supervisor/co-supervisor in the field of Teacher Education, Dr. Javed Ahmed Ujjan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology was appointed as research supervisor/co-supervisor in the field of Zoology, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Faiz Kazi, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Dr. Ahmaduddin Rajpar, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Pirbux Ghumro, Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Zafar Pirzada, Department of Biochemistry, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana and Dr. Salman Bashir Memon, Lecturer, Department of Business Administration were appointed as research guide/co-guide in the fields of Zoology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Business Administration, respectively.

The Board recommended to award MS/M. Phil degrees to Ashique Hussain Jatoi, Mohammad Hussain Arain, Abdul Rauf Shaikh, Mohammad Bachal Korai, Nazir Lanjwani, Mohammad Aslam Korai, and Maqsood Ali Mirbahar in the field of Chemistry.

Ms. Safia Khatoon Soomro, Anwar Ali Phulpoto, Bhagwan Das, Waheed Ali Mirbahar and Ms. Sadia Tabassum Ansari were awarded M. Phil degrees in the field of Microbiology.

Shahid Ali Mahar was awarded MS degree in the field of Computer Science.

The Board recommended to award M. Phil degree to Ishrat Ali Mirani, Mohammad Rafiq Malik and Ms. Shahida Begum were awarded M. Phil degrees in the fields of International Relations, Urdu and Political Science, respectively.

The Board recommended awarding PhD degree to Badaruddin Dhamra and Mohammad Ismaeel Soomro in the field of Sindhi and Business Administration, respectively.
