SALU increases exam fees

Larkana: The authorities of Shah Abdul Lateef University (SALU), Khairpur, have manifold increased annual examination fees of BA, B.Sc. and MA rendering education useless for those students who cannot pay these high fees.

Seven years ago MA annual examination fee was between Rs:1800 to 2000/- and then it was raised to Rs:5000/- and since last three years they are charging from each MA candidate Rs:9,650/- due to which many poor students have left doing post-graduation.

The government is always blaming private schools, colleges and universities for arbitrarily raising fees but it has taken no action against its own educational institutions. Likewise BA annual examination fee was between Rs:2000/- to 2500/- and now the students are being charged Rs:7,400/- for which it can only be said that Government does not want its people to be literate & highly qualified.

As many as eight districts are being dealt with by the SALU as their students get admissions in graduation or post-graduation classes or appear in these examinations annually and the university authorities are earning millions of rupees yearly by charging exam fees only.

As many as 30,000 students appear in BA, B.Sc & MA exams belonging to these districts. Irony of the matter is that Rs:3000/- are charged separately from each student to get a degree certificate by the SALU administration.

No one would believe that mark sheets of BA, B.Sc annual exams result of which was recently announced have not yet been sent to the concerned colleges rendering the students who intend to study further helpless though the MA admission date in the SALU has already expired thus these students will lose their precious year for which action should be taken against the SALU authorities and examination controller, the parents of affected students demand.
