Samjhota Express resumes service

LAHORE: Samjhota Express train service between India and Pakistan resumed on Thursday after its suspension due to Haryana riots some days back.

The train service was suspended Monday on the request of India following widespread deadly violence by the Jat community in Indian state of Haryana that cut off road and rail links to Delhi. Dosti Bus Service between Lahore and Delhi was also been suspended, but it resumed the operation on Wednesday. Today, Samjhota Express train departed from Lahore for Atari in India.

Samjhauta Express carrying 107 passengers left for Attari through Wagah Border. The trans-border train, running between Delhi and Lahore, has a capacity of up to 500 passengers.
