ISLAMABAD: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashdi on Wednesday said that efforts are afoot to enhance export of skilled manpower to foreign countries particularly the Gulf.
He told the Senate during question hour that the National Vocational and Technical Education Commission and TEVTA are running different technical training programmes in cooperation with the non-governmental organizations to produce the required skilled force.
Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz told the House that a systematic approach has been adopted to enhance foreign remittances to the country by exporting more manpower.
Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman told the House that the government has finalized a technical and vocational training policy to enhance skilled manpower.
Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar told the House that the Prime Minister’s Polio monitoring cell has further been strengthened to achieve the goal of complete polio eradication. She said a total of eighteen polio supplementary immunization activities were conducted last year in which 267 million children were vaccinated.
Minister for National Food Security Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan told the House that 63 new crop varieties were developed by Pakistan Agriculture Research Council over the last five years.
He said, these varieties were introduced to the farmers through public sector organizations. He said the PARC has also formulated technology to develop local hybrids of different crops including sunflower, canola and maize.
