Service-based politics needed for Karachi uplift

Karachi: Instead of vendetta-based politics, a service-based politics is needed to ensure rapid development of Karachi and the coming local government elections provide a golden chance to introduce this culture in the mega city, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter amir Hafiz Naeem addressing a meeting at Arqam Islamic Center, Gulistan-e-Johar.

He said Karachi needs mega projects in the sectors of education, healthcare, public transport, housing, jobs and provision of water, gas and electricity. He said they believe in the politics of service and determined to revive the lost glory of Karachi. He said it needs to unite the Karachiites on a single platform of selfless service. He said this type of service is not a new concept for JI Karachi as it has already presented the role models of Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, Mehmood Azam Farroqui, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Niamatullah Khan Advocate. He asked the cadres to contact masses on grassroots level and begin door to door campaigns in their localities.

JI district East chapter amir, ex-MPA Mohammad Yunus Barai said they would promote brotherhood, unity and solidarity in Karachi. He said they believe in practical service and not in hollow slogans.

Naeem Akhtar, Syed Iftikhar Ahmed, Murtaza Ghouri and Taufiquddin Siddiqui also spoke.
