KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed the Rangers and police to make efforts for recovery of two missing men.
A division bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah had taken up two petitions seeking whereabouts of two missing men.
The petitioner, Mohammad Idrees submitted that his son Abdul Basit, 34, was picked up from Babar Market, Landhi area on June 26 this year by unknown persons and since then there was no information about his whereabouts. He requested the court to direct the authorities to recover his son.
The Rangers’ official filed its comments, stating that they had neither arrested Basit nor kept him in detention. Acting sub-divisional police officer, Landhi told the judges that efforts were under way to locate Basit.
Another petitioner Mohammad Yousuf stated that his son Mohammad Umair, 29, was picked up from Landhi area on June 25. Since then his whereabouts were still unknown.
He added that he had approached the officers of the law enforcement agencies to trace his location but they had failed to locate him. The court asked the Rangers’ official to file its comments in the petition.
Meanwhile, the same bench disposed of a petition calling for recovery of a missing person after it was informed that the missing man’s body was found in Edhi mortuary.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Shabana, who submitted that her brother Raeesuddin, 36, was picked up on Dec 02 from Jacob Lines area and there was no clue about his whereabouts since then.
