SHC issues notices on petition of DSP seeking promotion

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed chief secretary Sindh, Additional secretary regulation wing to file their comments on the petition filed Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Thatta Raja Basharat, seeking promotion to Superintendent Police (SP) rank.

SHC bench was seized with the hearing of petition filed by DSP Thatta who moved the court against out of turn promotions of his junior DSPs to SPs rank.

The petitioner submitted that concerned authorities have made a forged seniority list in which they favoured their own people. DSP Basharat submitted that his juniors were ‘artificially’ made seniors to him and promoted to SP rank which was unlawful.

“On the seniority basis it is my right to get promotion but the favourites has been promoted” he added.

Citing home secretary, chief secretary Sindh, Additional secretary regulation wing as respondents, the petitioner requested the court to direct the respondents to promote him as SP. The court was prayed to issue directions to concerned authority to consider merit while promoting.

After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to Attorney General and respondents to file their comments on the next hearing.
