SHC seeks report on missing of two men

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sought a report from defence secretary on alleged detention of two missing men by security agencies.

A division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh was hearing a petition filed by Muhammad Nawaz seeking recovery of his brother Muhammad Amin and nephew Muhammad Ilyas.

The petitioner alleged that his brother and nephew, missing since June 5, 2009, were picked up by spy agencies.

Petitioner’s counsel told the judges that two missing men were detained in an internment centre, adding that brother of detainee, Amin approached home and tribal affairs department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for arranging meeting between detainee and his family but could elicit no response. He requested the court to ask KPK government to arrange a meeting.

The bench directed KP authorities to file comments on plea of captive’s family for arranging meeting between detainee and his family. The court also sought report from defence secretary on arrest of two detainees by security agencies.
