SHC tasks NAB to probe into alleged embezzlement in Tando Mohammad Khan’s funds
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday tasked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) with carrying out an inquiry into alleged misappropriation of funds meant for uplift works in Tando Mohammad Khan district.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shekih was hearing the plea of a citizen, submitting that millions of rupees allocated for the development works in Tando Mohammad Khan have been embezzled.
The petitioner submitted that huge amount of money was allocated for the districts’ development but hardly a few of them were spent for the betterment of the people and remaining amount was misappropriated.
He said that only the advertisements of development schemes were issued but those were not materialized. The renovations of roads and other development works were to be executed with these funds but the same had been embezzled and no improvement in the dilapidated condition of streets was witnessed, he added.
The SHC was requested to direct the corruption watchdog to initiate inquiry into the matter and bring the culprits under law. While sending the matter to NAB, the bench directed it to carry out the inquiry and submit the report before it.[related_post themes="text" id="322544"]
