Sindh accumulates gold medals to clinch Swimming Championship title


Karachi: Sindh swimmers recorded stunning triumphs in 15th National Girls Age Group Swimming Championship 2015, which concluded on Sunday at Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad.

Sindh secured 41 gold, 28 silver and 19 bronze medals and accumulated 1540 points to claim the title. Sindh’s nearest rival was Punjab, who won five gold, 11 silver and 20 bronze to a score of 481. Third position was clinched by Navy with two gold, eleven silver and two bronze totaling to 389 points.

In age group 16 and Under; Sindh Areeba Shaikh swam impressively winning six gold medals and breaking national records in four events.

In age group 14 and Under, Army’s Bisma Khan also won six gold medals and breaking former national records.

Sindh’s Laiba Bilwani, playing in age group 12 and Under, won five gold medals, a silver and in the process also broke records in four events.

In Age Group 10 and Under, Fatima Lotia of Sindh claimed four gold medals and two bronze. Fatima broke two previous records.
