ISLAMABAD: Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi presided over the meeting of Board of Governors (BOG) of Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) here on Wednesday.
The participants of the meeting paid tribute to late Mehmood Salim Mehmood for his services rendered in strengthening democracy by promoting parliamentary excellence in Pakistan in his capacity as Executive Director PIPS.
The Acting Speaker said that Mehmood had been instrumental in the establishment of PIPS as an effective centre of excellence in providing quality research and capacity building services for parliamentarians and parliamentary functionaries. The participants offered Fateha and prayed for the departed soul.
The board also endorsed the decision of appointment of Mohammad Rashid Mafzool Zaka, Director (Research and Informational Services) as Acting Executive Director PIPS till the appointment of permanent Executive Director.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Senator Rubina Khalid, MNA Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA Shafqat Mahmood, MNA Chaudhry Mohammad Shahbaz Babar, and Secretary National Assembly and Secretary Senate.
