ISLAMABAD: Defending champion Omar Abdel Meguid, Karim Al-Fathi, Nasir Iqbal and Mohamed Abouelghar reached the semi finals of Serena Hotels – Chief of Air Staff International Squash Championship being played at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad.
According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the 1st Quarter Final was a thrilling match between reigning champion Omar Abdel Meguid and Farhan Mehboob. Farhan won the first game with a game score of 11/9. Omar came back in the next game and outclassed Farhan with superb stroke play and won the game with the game score 11/1.
The third game was also a nailbiter which was won by Omar with the game score 14/12. Omar won the match by wining the fourth game with the game score of 11/7. The match lasted for 62 minutes. In the 2nd Quarter Final Karim Al-Fathi defeated Tayyab Aslam in straight sets with a game score of 11/9, 11/9, 11/6. The match lasted for 35 minutes. The 3rd quarter final was played between Nasir Iqbal and Israr Ahmed.
Nasir won the first two games with the score 11/9 and 11/5. The third game was won by Israr with the score 11/8. However Nasir regained the control on the match in the fourth game and managed to win the match with the score 11/5. The match lasted for 45 minutes.
The fourth quarter final was played between two Egyptians Mohamed Abouelghar and Shehab Essam. Both the players exquisite game of squash and entertained the spectators with some excelent shots. However Mohamed Abouelghar won the match with the game score of 11/7, 4/11, 11/7, 8/11 and 11/7. The match lasted for 71 minutes.
