Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan has said steps are being taken to promote trade related and economic activities in Federal Administered Tribal Areas in order to ensure the lasting peace and stability.
He said reopening of Bara bazar on modern lines in Khyber Agency would be symbolic icon which will ultimately promote and foster economic activities in tribal region.
He said due to the great sacrifices by tribesmen and security forces we are now entering in to the new phase of peace and stability and solid steps have been taken to ensure the rehabilitation, reconstruction and socio economic development of FATA.
He was presiding over a high level meeting on reopening of historic Bara bazaar here at governors house, Peshawar on Thursday.
Besides Additional Chief Secretary FATA Mohammad Aslam Kamboh, Principal Secretary to Governor Sikander Qayum, Commissioner Peshawar Dr. Mohammad Fakhr e Alam, Political Agent of Khyber Agency Shahab ud din, Chief economist P&D FATA and other concerned official also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the overall arrangements regarding the reopening of the Bara bazaar in detail. A briefing was also given to the governor about the steps and arrangements taken to reopen the Bara market and state of the art town centre in Bara Tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Governor said the early reopening of historic Bara bazaar on modern lines and rehabilitation of economic activities in this region will mark a new beginning of trade and economic activities, progress, employment opportunities and socio economic development in the tribal region. Governor said we should give benefit and ownership to the tribes and give them the pride.
He directed the authorities concerned to take steps to ensure the provision of modern facilities including State of the art town centre, family parks, rescue centre, warehouse, transport, widening of roads, vegetable market, and food centre which will facilitate the business community and customers as well.
He stressed on the need to make all arrangements within stipulated time so that historic market would be reopened and business related activities could be generated which will ultimately help in promoting employment opportunities economic development in the area.
The Governor said that concrete measures have been taken to reopen the bazaar and rehabilitate the economic activities in Bara to make this project a true story soon.
The Governor said no stone would be left unturned in wake of the repatriation of TDPs and rehabilitation of the tribesmen to improve the livelihood, living standard and employment opportunities providing by trade and economic activities in this region.
