Islamabad: The local traders have strongly opposed the construction of a new slaughter house in the middle of the city (in H-9 Sector) and have called upon the CDA to cancel this project to save the city from bad smell and environment pollution.
Khalid Mehmood Mian, President, ICT Chamber of Small Traders have said that a slaughter house for Islamabad was constructed on partnership basis at an area of 50 acre in Humak, but Punjab Government has taken over its possession.
He stressed upon the CDA to take back the said slaughter house from Punjab Government instead of spending millions of rupees on the construction of a new one in H-9 Sector, Islamabad.
He said if the new slaughter house was constructed, traders would strongly oppose this project. He was talking to a delegation of Butchers Union.
Khalid Mian said that construction of slaughter house in the middle of city would create health problems for the citizens. Environment Protection Agency has already termed the construction of slaughter house in the city harmful for the citizens as it could cause many diseases.
If CDA did not cancel this project, traders would resort to the court and would launch a protest campaign against this anti-environment and anti-people project.
He said metro bus project is beneficial for the commuters and those who are opposing it are not people-friendly.
He said construction of slaughter house in near Metro Bus Terminal at Peshawar More would badly affect life citizens as it would spread bad smell and generate health problems.
He appealed to the Chairman CDA, Member Admin and Member Environment CDA to take notice of this situation and cancel the slaughter house project in H-9 to save the environment of Islamabad from further pollution.
