Traffic police making traffic diversion plans for Ashura days


KARACHI: The Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Police Karachi Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh said on Monday that three separate plans will be formed for mourning procession routes and traffic diversion during Ashura days in the city for 8th, 9th and 10th Muharam 1437 A.H i.e. 21 to 23th October 2015.

During the Ashura days, no heavy traffic will be allowed to enter the Nashtar Park area, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan M.A. Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street Preedy Street , Again M.A. Jinnah Road (right turn Baba-e-Urdu Road) Baba-e-Urdu Road, Crossing of Chand Bibi Road, Nishtar Road, bara Imam, Altaf Hussain Road (old Napier Road) M.A. Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Nawab Mahabat Khanji road and it will terminate at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah, said DIG while presiding over a meeting on traffic arrangements during Ashura with Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan and Pak Hydri Scout on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan’s General Secretary Syed Shabbar Raza, Pak Hyderi Scout’s Chairman Hassan Mehdi and All SSPs, DSPs and SOs from Traffic Police.

Talking to PPI, Dr Amir said a CCTV Control Room will be established at DIG Karachi Traffic Office to monitor the mourning procession routes in Karachi. He said Lyari Expressway would be divided into two ways to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Amir said they have already sought a list of mourning processions’ timings from Ulema so that traffic could be diverted on these timings. He said he has already warned officials that no one would be tolerated of negligence of duty.

On the other hand, pillion ridding of motorbikes will be banned in Karachi on 8th, 9th , and 10th of Moharram, it was decided in another meeting presided over by Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah held on Monday.
