QUETTA: Two persons were killed and four injured during vent protests against desecration of Holy Quran here second day Wednesday. One motorcycle was torched and roads were blocked by angry protestors in the city. Situation was monitored by helicopters. According to details leaves of holy Quran were found from crates of pomegranates from fruit market Hazarganji here yesterday.
Religious parties Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat, Jamiat Ulema e Islam-N and citizens staged strong protest in Hazarganji, Gahi Khan chowk, Sariab road, Sabzal road, Bacha Khan Chowk, Zarghoon road, Satellite Town and other parts. They burnt tyres and blocked roads. Angry people also forced shopkeepers to shut their shops and markets. Banks, medical stores and others were also closed. Situation turned tense and angry people resorted to firing. As a result two persons Zainal Abideen and Mahmood died while four others were injured. They were shifted to civil hospital and CMH.
Due to firing and forcing people to pull down shutters created severe fear among the people. Angry people also torched two motorcycles. They also broke windowpanes of several vehicles.
Police and Frontier Corps troops reached the tense areas and controlled the situation.
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch taking notice of the situation directed law enforcement agencies to control the situation and provide security to the citizens. He said those involved in ugly situation would not be forgiven at any cost.
