Karachi: As many as 355 students were conferred degrees in at the 47th Convocation College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) was held on Thursday at CPSP Head Office Karachi. About 286 doctors conferred FCPS degrees, 59 MCPS, 09 DCPS and one HPE degree out of total 355 in 47th Convocation of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). Dr Farheen Kareem got gold medal over his outstanding performance in exams.
Former Health Minister Sindh and Chief Guest Prof Dr Abdur Rab, while addressing the Convocation said new degrees courses are being introduced in medical education to control the diseases which has showed the development in health sector in the country. He said medical education is very costly in Pakistan and most of doctors shifted to other countries after completion of education for bright future. He termed the shifting of doctors to other countries is a great lost poor people of the country.
He said poverty and unemployment are in peak in Pakistan and there is dire need to redress these issues on priority basis. He said there is law exists in the country, but unfortunately nobody is ready to obey the law. He said only the poor man become victim over violation of law and there no law to touch wealthy people who is the real violator of law.
He urged the government to manufacture the medicines at local level rather than importing medicines from other countries on high prices to control the diseases. He congratulated the degrees holders about their achievements in medical education.
President CPSP Prof Zafar Ullah Chaudhry said approximately 90 present doctors who are serving in different institutions across the country are belonged to CPSP. He said CPSP degree has great value in the field of health education in worldwide which are matter great pleasure and happiness for us. He many countries showed their willingness for opening of CPSP like institution in their own countries.
