Abducted cardiologist freed


QUETTA: Dr Abdul Munaf Tareen Cardiologist was freed by his abductor in Uthal in wee hours Sunday who reached Quetta safely. According to details Dr Abdul Munaf Tareen was abducted two and half months ago from in front of his clinic at Pishin Stop here. He was released near a hotel in Uthal District Lasbella (Balochistan) in small hours today. He informed police of his release who shifted him to Karachi and he reached Quetta safely. His abductors reportedly received Rupees 50 million ransom for his release.

Meanwhile President Pakistan Medical Association Balochistan Dr Sultan Tareen told Newsmen here today that there is no roil of government and police in release of Dr Munaf.

From 2009 till todate a large number of doctors have been abducted for ransom. Two doctors Dr Din Muhammad Baloch and Dr Akbar Marri were still untraceable for several years. Dr Sultan told that doctors were facing serious insecurity and police and administrant have failed to provide them security. He said general body meeting of PMA Balochistan has been summoned on Monday which would decide whether to call off doctors protest or not. Doctors are on strike to protest abduction of their fellow in Balochistan. Due to stoppage of work at OPDs at government hospitals patients were facing severe difficulties.

Meanwhile Dr Munaf Tareen told Media men upon arrival at Quetta airport that he was unaware whether his release is result of payment of ransom or not. Abductors meted out same behaviour which they did with others. He said abductors freed him near Bela. Then he informed police who shifted him to Karachi safely and then he reached Quetta today.
