Karachi: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies, Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday said that a session of Sindh Assembly would be summoned soon on the requisition of opposition members, adding those who are opposing Sindh Local Ordinance 2013 had welcomed ordinances in the era of dictator General Musharraf.
Talking to media, Memon said that those who are protesting against the ordinance had accepted their defeat well before elections and therefore they are terming the ordinance as wrong in order to save face.
“We will summon the session and will debate the Local Government bill 2013,” he said adding that this time the local government polls would be free and fair and their results would be better than the results of previous elections.
He said that in past, attempts were made to occupy polling stations and steal mandate of the people but this time no one would be allowed to occupy the polling stations.
He said that two ordinances of the local government were promulgated by Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad, who represents MQM but now they are opposing his third ordinance.
