Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Muhammad Shehzad Arbab has asked the civil bureaucracy to focus their attention on solution of problems of the common man adding that it would earn them respect and peace of mind.
This he said while presiding over a meeting with participants of Inland Study Tour of 4th MCMC Kashmir Institute of Management in Peshawar on Friday. Chief Instructor Kashmir Institute of Management Dr. Sultan Hanif Orakzai, Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez and other high ranking officers were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Secretary said that they needed to take all decisions purely on the basis of merit as it would reform the prevailing disorder in the country. The people, he said, were not unwise. They were more wise than the bureaucrats therefore they should serve their people with honesty and dedication.
Regarding the steps being taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the Chief Secretary said that the law of the right of information was a matter of real revolution as according to it transparency would come into the affairs of the government.
He said that now everyone was asking about details of the steps taken by the government. Every government servant, he said, was afraid of this kind of law. The government’s policy regarding doing things on pure merit, he maintained, was evident from the appointment of new IGP of the province.
Chief Secretary said that it was the vision of the PTI Chairman, Imran Khan to appoint IGP from Punjab on the basis of merit. He said that no one in the province would be able to influence the new IGP. He also briefed members of the course on steps being taken to reform the province.
