City hospitals put on high alert


Karachi: The administrations of all three major government-run hospitals of Karachi on Monday decaled high-alert on 24th December, 2013 in the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

On the directives of Sindh health department emergency has been declared in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) and Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on the Chehlum day (Tuesday).

The administrations of hospitals also cancelled leaves of their employees to tackle any possible emergency situation and also stored required stock of medicine.

Medical Superintend (MS) ASH Dr Nadeem Rajput said hospital administration has made all necessary arrangements to tackle any emergency situation on the occasion of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). He said emergency ward of hospital would remain opened on the Chehlum Day.

Joint Director and In-charge Emergency Ward JPMC Dr Seemi Jamali said the high-alert has already been declared in her hospital on 24th of December and leaves of doctors and paramedical staff cancelled. She informed that doctors and other staff in emergency department would be present round the clock and all the operation theatres already kept open.

She said the administration have stocked the necessary medicines, blood and medical equipment to handle any emergency situation.

Additional Medical Superintendent (General) CHK Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick said all necessary arrangements have already been finalized by the hospital administration to handle any emergency situation on instruction of the provincial government.
