QUETTA: Supreme Court while expressing anger over non arrival of police officers despite their postings in Balochistan has called reply from Punjab Chief Secretary. It said despite assisting Balochistan Government of Punjab was taking officers from this province. These officers should be presented in the court by Wednesday.

These views were expressed by Chief Justice Supreme Court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while hearing Balochistan lawlessness case second day here Tuesday.

Expressing anger over non reporting of Police officers on their transfers to Balochistan from Sindh and Punjab he said they must discharge their duty in the province. They all are employees of Government of Pakistan. A lot of officers form Balochistan are serving in Islamabad. Will Supreme Court issue order for bringing these officers to Balochistan, he remarked.

Balochistan Government lawyer told that these officers would arrive here today or tomorrow. Chief Justice asked why they did not come earlier. If they did not report by tomorrow Punjab Chief Secretary would be responsible.

A member of the bench Justice Jawad S Khwaja said action should be taken against these officers for not reporting despite their transfers to Balochistan.

Lawyer of Sindh Government informed the court that Asad Raza, Aitzaz Ahmed and Farhat Khursheed have obtained stay from the court. Chief Justice enquired after Supreme Court order what is the position of subordinate court.

Additional IG Sindh told that three officers did not report. They were of the view their transfer has been ordered against policy. Advocate General Sindh told that Establishment Division has transferred police officers.

Chief Justice asked lawyer of provincial government Chief Secretary of previous government had said ready for local bodies polls. He said administrative and political decisions should not be brought to court. We are talking of law only. If government does not to hold local bodies polls then there is legal permission for restoration of old system. System must not remain vacant.

Court adjourned hearing of missing persons case till Wednesday and directed Inspector General Frontier corps Balochistan to inform the court by tomorrow about missing persons. Those recovered should be produced in the court also.
