CM appreciates operation achievements


KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has appreciated the achievements of the Rangers and Sindh Police that they achieved in targeted operation being carried out against the terrorists, target killers, kidnappers and extortions in Karachi, and directed them to further speed up the operation and make the city free from terrorists with in shortest possible time.

He said that the joint role of Rangers and Sindh Police would go on till the complete success of the operation in the city. Presiding over a law and order meeting convened to review law and order situation and performance of target operation in the city, at CM House Karachi, the chief minister said that full moral, administrative and legal support was being provided to the officers engaged in this targeted operation and directed them to ensure the protection of lives and properties of common citizen at any cost.

He said that Karachi was an important and the biggest city of the country and even it is one of the world’s most important cities, as such to maintain its peace and tranquillity was very much essential.

He said that a good impact of the targeted operation has been reported. Taking the notice of forcibly strikes, that causing violence, and damage to public and private properties, he asked the Advocate General to propose the necessary legislation so that the same be got passed from the Sindh Assembly to prevent such illegal activities in future.

The chief minister Sindh said that public perception about the forcibly strikes was very much adverse, and people have been fad up and looking towards government for support and enabling them to earn their livelihood and send their children in schools in peaceful atmosphere. He said that we are determined to get the people of Karachi out of torment of such forcible strikes and hoped that people and business community to support the Government in their own interest.

The chief minister said that necessary amendments to be made in the existing laws of investigation, prosecution to ensure fair trial, legality of JIT and expeditious disposal of the cases. He directed the officers to put all the entries and exit points of Karachi city under strict vigilance to apprehend the criminals while fleeing from Karachi due to successful
action by the Rangers and Sindh Police against them. The Chief Minister Sindh also agreed with the proposal for handing the operational control of all CCTV cameras in the metropolis to the Sindh Police. The meeting also formed a committee with Secretary Home, IG Police, Prosecutor General and representative from each law enforcing agency to nominate the police stations in the city where the cases of the criminals arrested by Rangers be registered.

The Inspector General Sindh Police briefed the meeting about the raids, encounters, arrests and killings of criminals and recovery of the arms and ammunitions since Sept.05, 2013. He said that except killing of two police constables, no target killing so far has been reported, and now this heinous crime has been reduced to zero.

He said that yesterday during the forcibly strikes in the city the culprits were arrested on the spot while torching the vehicles on the road. He said that action was being taken against the criminals without any discrimination. The representatives from other law enforcing agencies also briefed the meeting about the ongoing targeted operation in the city. Provincial Ministers Sharjeel Enam Memon, Dr. Sikander Mendhro, Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Aijaz Chaudhry, IG Sindh Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch, DG Rangers Maj. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar, Advocate General and other officers of concerned organization participated.
