Sialkot: The Sialkot police have busted as many as four inter-district gangs of cattle thieves and arrested 34 members of these gangs. DPO claimed a visible decline in heinous natured crime in Sialkot district during the last two months.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Gohar Nafees disclosed this while talking to the newsmen.. SP (Investigation) Asad Sarfraz Khan, DSP Daska Muhammad Shoaib Cheema, member District Crime Watch Committee Zafar Malik, local traders, Ulema and notables were also present on this occasion.
DPO revealed that the police have recovered as many as 41 stolen and snatched buffaloes, two cows, 23 goats and lambs and other cattle (worth of Rs7.1 million) from the accused, besides, recovering the three trucks used in loading and unloading the stolen cattle by the accused, in this regard.
Police have brought betterment in the “Theekari Pehra System” and nabbed the said accused from Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Lahore, Sialkot and Narowal.
The accused have confessed their direct and indirect involvement in as many as 27 different cases of cattle theft, he added. DPO added that the police have also smashed as many as eight inter-district gangs of dacoits and robbers namely Bilal alias Bilali Gang, Suhail Nadeem alias Suhaila Gang, Jamil alias Jeela Gang, Waqas alias Waqasa Gang, Riaz alias Riaju Gang, Rizwan alias Chand Gang, Sultan alias Sultana Gang and Abdullah Gang, besides arresting 127 notorious proclaimed offender (POs) of A category and 369 Pos of B category, as these accused had become a sign of terror in Daska region.
