LARKANA: As many as eleven vitals blood tests are not being conducted at the main Central Laboratory of the 1400-bed capacity largest Teaching Hospital of upper Sindh since last one month due to which hundreds of indoor & OPD patients are suffering for no fault of theirs.
All admitted patients in Chandka Medical College Hospital are provided free of cost blood & pathological tests but OPD patients are charged different amount for each test which is much below the market rates.
These tests include Calcium, CPESR, Blood Urea, Blood Creatinine, R. A. Factor, H. Pylori, VDRL, CTBT, Electrolyte and others.
Inner sources said that kits for these tests have been out of stock as no fresh consignment has been received to carry out these major diagnostic blood tests hence all the concerned poor patients are advised to get these tests done from private laboratories to provide them proper treatment costing them extra which has overburdened them all.
About 2000 tests are carried out daily at the central lab of indoor & OPD patients due to which it always remains overcrowded.
Sources said that one more month is required for fulfilment of required formalities in approving the tenders, offers and placing supply orders and after that consumables, material and kits will be delivered at the site which will further delay the supply process and will also raise question over their quality.
The Sindh Government has centralized the procurement of drugs, medicines and other items since last financial year for unknown reasons which has caused tremendous loss to the ailing community due to long time process in finalizing the quotations & offers, issuing supply orders and making deliveries at the hospitals throughout the province as the poor patients are always forced to suffer without justification.
