14 killed, 40 injured in bomb explosion at Jaffar Express


SIBI: Fourteen persons were killed several burnt alive and 40 were injured in an explosion at Jaffar Express train stationed at Sibi station here Tuesday. Among burnt were members of Hindu community.

According to details Jaffar Express Train proceeding to Rawalpindi from Quetta was stationed at Sibi station. An explosion occurred at bogie No 9 and it caught fire. It was so big it was heard at far and near. Twelve passengers were killed on the spot. They also included members of Hindu community. Forty others were also injured. They were rushed to civil hospital where condition of several of them is stated to be serious.

Explosion also caused damage to the station.

Fire tenders were called who fought flames of the bogie and succeeded to control them after several hours. Several passengers were burnt alive due to fire in the bogie. They also included 8 Hindus.

Commissioner Sibi Sher Khan Bazai, Commandant Sibi Scouts, Deputy Commissioner, DIG, DPO rushed the scene along with heavy contingents of Police and Levies and supervised relief and rescue activities.

Arrangements were made for provision treatment of injured persons on the special directives of Commissioner Sibi.

Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital told that of the injured several passengers were burnt and condition of them is very serious.

Train service was suspended following explosion at Sibi station. Jaffar Express Train resumed its onward journey to Rawalpindi after several hours.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while condemning the explosion at the train said that those targeting innocent passengers do not called human beings. He directed for providing best possible treatment to the injured persons. He also gave orders for arrest of terrorist and called a report from concerned officers.

Condemning Sibi explosions Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said such people are involved in acts of terrorism who do not want peace in Balochistan. Those claiming to be nationalists do not admit Baloch traditions. In Baloch society children and women are not attacked. He condemned attacks on passenger train. He said all resources would be mobilized for elimination of elements involved in explosion on passenger train.

Provincial health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch while condemning the explosion directed administrant of civil hospital Sibi for providing proper heath facilities to the injured persons.
