JAMSHORO: All Pakistan Inter-University Boxing Championship 2014 will be organized by the Directorate of Sports, University of Sindh (SU), Jamshoro in collaboration with Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) from April 4 to 6, 2014 in which 27 universities across the country have ensured their participation. The preparations of the event have been finalized.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazir A Mughal would inaugurate the championship whereas Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed would participate as chief guest at the closing ceremony on April 6.
It is being organized under the auspicious of SU Jamshoro. A total number of 27 teams of various universities – Peshawar University, Superior University Lahore, University of Central Punjab, Karachi University, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Punjab University Lahore, Govt. College University Lahore, Govt. College University Faisalabad, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology Jamshoro, Veterinary University Lahore, Bannu University, Comsat University Islamabad, Kohat University, Abdul Wali Khan University Mansehra, IQRA University Karachi, Bahauddin Zakria University Multan, Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Agriculture University Faisalabad, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, Bahria University Islamabad, Agriculture University Peshawar, University of Sindh Jamshoro and Islamia International University Islamabad will take part in the event.
Boxers who won their bouts and qualified for the semi-finals will play final on April 6 at SU and the winner team members will be awarded on the occasion.
Director Sports Dr Akram Ansari in this regard told that he had held a meeting with the officials of Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) who apprised him to send referees and judges from different parts of the country.
He said the participant team members would be accommodated at SU foreign faculty hostel & Hyderabad Club for which the arrangements were finalized.
Deputy Director Sports Ajved Ahmed Bhatti said that SU had won a bronze medal for Pakistan in international universities’ boxing championship organized in Turkey in 2003 and this time. He said SU would defend the title by winning the final of this mega event.
