SIALKOT: A large number of students and their teachers from government schools, participated in “Allama Iqbal Rally”, taken out in the city by education department here Saturday.
EDO, Education Mohammad Saleem led the rally, which began from the District Courts and ended at congested Allama Iqbal Chowk after passing through all the main inter-city roads. The participants were carrying banners and placards with photos of Allama Iqbal and his famous poetry. They were also reciting Kalam-e-Iqbal loudly, especially “Lab Pey Aati Hey Duaa Ban Key Tamana Meri” etc.
EDO said that the rally was a part of the ongoing celebrations of “Iqbal Week” being celebrated in Allama Iqbal’s native city Sialkot to pay homage to great poet / philosopher of the East and to promote his philosophy.
He said that the district administration was celebrating the “Iqbal Week” in district to pay homage to Dr. Allama Iqbal, Poet of the East and son of soil of Sialkot.
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) also organized Iqbal Conference at SCCI auditorium to promote Iqbaliyat here. The Sialkot business tycoons including Fazal Jillani, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry-SCCI), Mir Alamgir Meyer, Khawaja Zakaud Din, Mian Naeem Javaid former SCCI President, Shehzada Ibne Iqbal Syed Chairman SCCI Committee on Iqbaliyat, Syed Kamal Abid, District Emergency Officer paid homage to Allama Iqbal. The students of the government and private schools and colleges also presented Kalam-e-Iqbal and delivered speeches.
The district administration also organized All Pakistan Mehfil-e-Mushaaira at the lawns of the Anwar Club Auditorium Sialkot here, in which the prominent poets from across the country including Amjad Islam Amjad, Attaul Haq Qasimi and Anwar Masood participated and they paid homage to Allama Iqbal.
