Chinese investors interested in joint ventures with Pakistan


SIALKOT: The visiting Chinese investors and industrialists showed keen interest in starting joint ventures with Sialkot exporters in different trade fields including the soccer ball, surgical instruments, martial arts and garments.

During their visit to several leading industrial units here, the leading Chinese investors and industrialists witnessed the international standard craftsmanship of the Sialkot based artisans and they highly hailed global industrial significance of Sialkot and its socio-economic development by local business community on self help basis, besides, hailing the unique export culture.

Talking to the exporters and industrialists here Wednesday, the Chinese investors were of the view that they were feeling no hesitation to invest in Sialkot industries or divert their business activities to Pakistan.

Talking to the newsmen the Chinese investors said that the labour has become very expensive in China due to which the leading Chinese investors and industrialists were diverting their business activities to the other countries especially towards Pakistan.

They termed it a very big and golden chance for Sialkot exporters to explore and capture the main Chinese international trade markets by exporting their best quality diversified traditional and non-traditional export products to China.

The Chinese investors also assured their maximum investment in industrial sector of Pakistan especially in Sialkot.

A 24 member business delegation from Yantai Federation of Commerce and Industry, Shandong China, spent a busy day in export-oriented Sialkot city here. Flanked by with the officials of SCCI and Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chinese delegation, today, visited several leading industrial units , amid tight security.

Later, addressing an important meeting of exporters held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the leading Chinese investors and industrialists including Mr. Tan Chengce, Mr. Li Heyi, Mr. Wang Yongming, Ms. Wang Yanli, Mr. Wang Han, Mr. Xiao Xingkui, Mr. Wang Libo, Mr. Liu Hai, Mr. Zhang Wenjun, Mr. Sun Wende, Mr. M. Cuirong, Mr. Kong Xianzhen, Ms. Kong Xianfeng, Mr. Yang Yunsheng, Mr. Shi Diankun, Mr.Guo Xiulin, Mr. Cheng Xianzhi, Mr. Xu Zhichao and Mr. Lirong discussed in detail the matters of mutual interest, besides, exploring the opportunities of Chinese investment in Sialkot and starting joint ventures in different trade fields with exporters as well, in collaboration with Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Chinese investors said that taking into consideration the ever rising labour cost in China, they are also endeavouring to expand their business portfolios especially in labour intensive industries in Pakistan.

Addressing the meeting, SCCI President Dr. Sarfraz Bashir appreciated the Chinese investors for initiating Joint Ventures with Pakistani counterparts in different sectors of the economy.

He said that Pakistan is an important country in South Asia offering good business prospects lucrative for foreign investments to explore Pakistani market for business matchmaking, joint ventures and investment.

He hoped that Chinese delegation’s visit to Sialkot would help entrepreneurs from both the countries to take a step further in exploring new possibilities of commercial cooperation to strengthen trading relations and flourishing the friendship between China and Pakistan

SCCI presented a documentary, “Sialkot, the City of Opportunities” to the visiting Chinese investors to elaborate industrial setup and to give detailed account of development and welfare work taken in hand by the business community of Sialkot truly expressing the progressive approach and vision of the entrepreneurship.
