CM Punjab releases Rs. 850 million for Waste Management Company


SIALKOT: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has released special grant of Rs. 850 million for the recently established “Sialkot Waste Management Company”, enabling it to purchase the machinery to bring betterment in cleanliness in Sialkot city.

MPA Mansha Ullah Butt disclosed this while addressing an important meeting of Board of Directors of Waste Management Company held at DCO office here. DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahi, EDO, Finance Nadeem Sarwar, DOC Sialkot Malik Abid Hussain Awan, TMO Sialkot Muhammad Zafar Qureshi and Director Waste Management Company Raza Azhar Ali were present on this occasion.

As many as 100 KMs long inter-city roads would be swept mechanically while, the garbage would be picked up by special teams by visiting door-to-door in city, besides, installing the dust bins on all the roads, streets and bazaars of city, the MPA added.

On this occasion, the meeting was told that export-oriented Sialkot city generates 265 to 300 tons of garbage daily and Solid Waste Management Company would tender internationally for lifting and dumping it.
