Abbottabad: Master plan for Abbottabad city is being prepared for widening of main Karakuram High Way with the capacity of three-lane road and making underpasses on some of important points to minimize the traffic hazards on the busiest road.
This was said by Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Motiullah Khan while talking to the reporters at his office on Wednesday. DC told that anti encroachment drive which was started two months back has been now extended to Havelian and on Murree road and committee comprises of officials of Sui Gas, PESCO, PTCL, NHA , TMA , Cantonment Board had made plan to shift the water supply lines, electric pools, Gas installations and other utility services lines with making footpaths for the pedestrians.
He made it clear that extension of road is done fairly from in between 35 to 65 feet’s at different points as per old city plan, which was then approved by the competent authorities.
Motiullah told that a comprehensive traffic plan is underway and initially some of “U” turns are removed for the smooth flow of the traffic while main plan will be made after consultations with the all stakeholders including journalists.
He pointed out that district administration is going to launch the issue of computerized domicile certificate shortly and agreed to put forward the proposal of creation of water board to manage the water issue of the Abbottabad city to the provincial government.
DC said the for the improvement of sanitation system in the city, TMA is being activated and told that district administration is going to establish “ Food Street” in the city for which efforts are being done for the site selection.
