District: Construction of Chakwal, Sohawa road deferred


Chakwal: The construction of Chakwal Sohawa road was deferred and it was not approved in the meeting of ACNIC meeting as the local MNA’s of the area Major ® Tahir Iqbal, begum Iffat Liaqat and Raja Javed Ikhlas have assured the people some 45 days ago that tenders is to be called out on 16th June and that was done and it was told that the chakwal mandra road and chakwal sohawa road projects would go on and tenders have been taken by NLC department.

Now only Chakwal Mandra road funds have been released and Chakwal Sohawa road project was deferred for indefinite period. There was a sharp reaction and the people expressed great resentments.

Ex Tehsil Nazim Chakwal Sardar Aftab Akbar demanded that Maj. Tahir Iqbal, Begum Iffat Liaqat and Raja Javed Ikhlas were failed to honour their commitment to the people of Chakwal district and Gujar Khan.

The local PMLN leader Sufi Mushtaq Bhati and other also demanded that the work on chakwal sohawa road must be started. It is worth mentioning here that chakwal sohawa road and chakwal mandra road were approved by ex. Prime Minister raja Pervez Ashraf and 100% funds of both these project that were of Rs. 5 billion and 400 million were released by the govt to the concerned department and these projects must have to be completed by 30th June 2013. The work of both these projects have been started but due to 11th may election the work was stopped and then the matter was went out at the supreme court and the projects were stayed but by the passage of time due to efforts of Maj. Tahir Iqbal and Raja Javed Ikhlas, the Islamabad high court finished the stay order and the process to start the work have been initiated.
