SIALKOT: The Punjab government has announced 4 to 16 percent increase in land transfer fee and stamp duty in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
According to senior officials in revenue department, the government has directed the concerned officials to chalk out a new action plan to ensure the 100 percent recovery of the revenue taxes, land transfer fee and stamp duty with this fresh 4 to 16 percent increase, in this regard.
The senior officials added that the provincial government had fixed an official target of revenue collection of Rs. 1.36 billion in shape of land transfer fees and stamp duty for Gujranwala district during the fiscal year 2014-2015, but only three months of this fiscal year have left and the department still remains unable to achieve this target.
Despite remaining failed in achieving this old target the Board of Revenue has given a new official target of Rs.1.48 million as collection in shape of land transfer and stamp duty as well. Special teams were striving to ensure the achieving of this new target, the senior official added.
