The local people have started shifting towards the safer places with their cattle and luggage as well. According to Focal Person Sialkot Flood Control Malik Abid Awan (DOC Sialkot), the flow of flood water was 15000 cusecs there in River Tavi and water level was souring up due to the ongoing fresh spell of heavy monsoon rains in catchment areas in neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that River Tavi was low lying near Chaprar villages from where 15000 cusecs flood water was passing through, inundating the said villages there.
He said that, however, the whole situation was under control there. However, relief activities were underway there in these flooded villages by the district administration of Sialkot, he added.
According to the flood affectees, the standing seasonal crops including wheat, fodder, gram and vegetables on hundreds of acres of land were badly ruined as the fields were inundated in the above-mentioned flooded Chaprar villages.
