Sialkot: The Sialkot Motorcycles Dealers Association has expressed grave concern over inordinate delay in completion of registration process by the Sialkot Excise and Taxation Department, alleging that the local officials of E&T in Sialkot had been teasing the local motorcycles’ dealers forcing them to Greece their palms for getting their registration process completed early.
President Sialkot Motorcycles Dealers Association Zafar Iqbal Lone stated this while addressing a press conference at Sialkot Press Club Sialkot.
He also pointed out the corruption of the local officials of Sialkot excise and taxation department and alleged that they take two months to complete the registration process , while, the E&T officials in Gujranwala only take a day to complete this process for facilitating the people.
He expressed grave concern over this nasty situation and said that now the people of Sialkot district were moving towards Gujranwala for getting their motorcycles registered there at earliest, due to which the revenue of Sialkot was also going to Gujranwala, in this regard.
Zafar Iqbal Lone also alleged that the concerned officials of excise and taxation department also take Rs.700 per registration paper and they often return back the registration papers if someone does not give them the said money.
He said that the old registration charges slip pay was worth of Rs.150 per paper, while the Sialkot based officials of E&T were charging Rs. 1000 per page instead of charging Rs. 150 per page and also do not issue the receipt of this slip, amazingly.
He urged the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Khawaja Shamail Ahmed and Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu to look into the matter.
